The country is covered by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Windhoek, Namibia.

At the request of the government, an International Advisory Board for the Reform of the Science, Technology and Innovation System of Nigeria was established by UNESCO in October 2004. This was followed by the establishment of the Natural Science Foundation of Nigeria.

Being vulnerable to coastal floods, the one CSI project in which Nigeria is currently involved in focuses on the mitigation of the impact of floods in Lagos.
