The country hosts a UNESCO Cluster Office in Harare, which covers Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

A UNESCO Chair on Renewable Energy was launched in Zimbabwe at the Scientific Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC) to strengthen the national and international efforts in renewable energies. It constitutes a framework in which specialised networks can be established and where education, training and information tools and material are designed, prepared and disseminated. This UNESCO chair serves also as a bridge between the research and development institutions and the industrial sector.
