The country is covered by the UNESCO Cluster Office in Quito, Ecuador.
Bolivia’s 3 biosphere reserves cover a variety of ecosystems with rich biota, from tropical forests in the Amazon to mixed mountain and highland systems.
The main goals of these reserves are to protect natural, cultural and anthropologic values by a sustainable management of natural resources with local participation and scientific support.
This includes protecting endangered species, safeguarding traditional techniques and knowledge, promoting the participation of indigenous and ethnolingusitic group in the decision making process and granting them territorial rights.
