Albert de Haan, the co-founder of the European Climate Exchange (ECX), and the Founder/CEO of his own Advisory Services, Carbon Rooster, has begun advising MAB on sustainable development investment opportunities in biosphere reserves.

Albert de Haan, the co-founder of the European Climate Exchange (ECX), the world’s largest platform for exchange of carbon credits and the Founder/CEO of his own Advisory Services, Carbon Rooster, has begun advising the Secretary of the MAB programme, Natarajan Ishwaran and his colleagues at the Secretariat on opportunities to link the Secretariat’s work on biosphere reserves and ecosystems to potential green investment and development interests in carbon and other ecosystem services markets.

Albert’s role can facilitate the Secretariat to establish “partnerships, agreements, such as water, forest and carbon funds” (see Madrid Action Plan action 25.2) and in general support communications and links to private sector interests that would like to explore green investment and green development opportunities in biosphere reserves and MAB ecosystem projects. MAB National Committees, biosphere reserves and other partners who would like to propose specific ideas in this regard please contact either Secretary of the MAB programme, Mr. N. Ishwaran (n.ishwaran@unesco.org) or Peter Dogse (P.dogse@unesco.org) to further pursue their thoughts
