13 - 18 September 2010

The regional meeting of African Biosphere Reserves (AfriMAB), of which there are currently 59, in 29 countries, will be held in Nairobi from 13th to 18th September 2010. It is expected that 24 countries and various international institutions will participate.

The meeting will enable the exchange of information on the implementation status of the Madrid Action Plan in Africa and also agreement on the operation of the AfriMAB Charter and Statutes. The technical session will focus on sustainable financing mechanisms for Biosphere reserves.

A field visit will be organized in Mount Kenya Biosphere Reserve with the support of the Kenyan MAB National Committee, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and Kenya Forest Service.
