UNESCO and Research for Health

One of the innovations of the 2008 Forum is a focus on the key linkages between the health sector and research, science and technology, higher education and the global innovation system. The examples presented in the brochure of UNESCO projects which impact on health illustrate the broad approach advocated by the Forum for meeting the challenge of improving health for all.

In the natural sciences, UNESCO is particularly concerned that advances in knowledge and its applications should be of benefit to all. Developing countries need a critical mass of well-trained scientists who can advise governments about priorities for national research and about the use of technologies arising from research in the life sciences.
