On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of UNESCO-IOC Egypt decided to participate in the celebration by holding a workshop entitled "The Role of The IOC in the Development of Oceanography and Marine Ecology in Egypt and the Arab world" which took place in Alexandria on 19 November 2009.

Within the international activity contributing to the 50th anniversary of IOC NIOF will convene a one-day workshop as a part of its annual Conference of ICAR2010 which will be held during the period 7-9 December 2010 in Alexandria. The theme of the workshop is Climate Change and the Sea Level Rise.
