Prev Events 5 of 18 Next

Tunis, 11-13 June 2007

The conference, organized by the government of Tunisia in collaboration with UNESCO and the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), will focus on ethics and anti-doping in sport. The objective is to encourage the ratification of the International Convention against Doping in Sport, build anti-doping capacity in the Arab region and promote the fundamental values that underpin sport.

Invited speakers will explore these issues from different institutional perspectives, while trying to explain why the doping crisis presents such a challenge, not only to sport itself, but to society as a whole.

Main themes of discussion include:

- Promoting sporting ethics and fair play;
- Understanding the International Convention against Doping in Sport;
- Developing effective anti-doping programmes;
- Educating athletes and young people about the harm caused by doping in sport.
