Youth – Partners: Cooperation with Intergovernmental Organisations (IGOs)
UNESCO maintains close working relations with a number of other intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) that are usually specialized and have an international or regional focus. Based on the relevance of objectives and activities, partnerships with youth programmes of IGOs comprise the exchange of information and good practice and harnessing synergies when it comes to developing and implementing specific projects.

Some examples of cooperation between UNESCO’s Programme on Youth and IGOs:

Council of Europe
the most recent cooperation between UNESCO and the European Youth Forum was in the context of the Euro-Med Youth Forum on Intercultural and Interfaith Dialogue to Ensure Peace (Cyprus, 16-19 November 2006). The Head of the Administrative Office of the Directorate of Youth and Sport participated at the Forum both as a keynote-speaker at the opening plenary session and as an observer of working group discussions.
In addition, the Council of Europe and UNESCO work closely together on the dissemination of information regarding youth-related or youth-led initiatives and events.

International Organization of the Francophonie
A new partnership between UNESCO, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and the World Bank seeks to meet the capacity-building needs of youth organizations in Cameroon through an integrated programme comprising a mapping of stakeholders in the field of youth, the provision of training to youth organizations and national authorities and technical assistance linked to the establishment of a National Youth Council.

Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP)
CYP is an international development agency that works to give young people aged 15-29 the skills, confidence and avenues to create a better future for themselves and for their families and communities. CYP’s work is mainly focused on three areas: 1. Youth Enterprise and Sustainable Livelihoods; 2. Governance, Development and Youth Networks; 3.Youth Work Education and Training.
