UNESCO and the Programme
The Programme for the Education for Children in Need operates by identifying and supporting NGOs, associations and local community groups that help excluded children through education and poverty-reduction schemes.
The Programme is housed by UNESCO’s Social and Human Sciences Sector, with ties to UNESCO's Education sector. This opens up vital expertise in both areas and guarantees numerous linkages to social transformation policies while also upholding the best educational practices.

UNESCO’s network of field offices allows the organization to screen and ensure the accountability of initiatives for children in all four corners of the globe. Many individuals and corporate sponsors prefer to donate through UNESCO in the knowledge that it is a longstanding international organisation that is monitoring projects, verifying that the highest standards are respected and that useful innovations are spread throughout the United Nations agencies and the media.
