India – Post-tsunami assistance
The fishing villages of the south east coast of India devastated by the Tsunami were given special support by UNESCO, with an emphasis on benefitting children and unemployed youths.

Psychological care was focused on the youngest children with educational holiday camps while professional training courses in tailoring, information technology and vehicle driving were implemented for the oldest groups. UNESCO cooperated on the ground with experienced trainers and educationalists from ASMAE and Arunodhaya.
