China - Aids Orphans Salvation Association of Fuyang (AOS)
This association currently assists 387 AIDS orphans and their families providing them with financial, nutritional, medical and social support.

Fuyang is located in Northwest Anhui Province. Fuyang prefecture was amongst those areas of China most seriously hit by the sale of contaminated blood in the mid-1990s, but it has received little media attention and governmental support. Unaware of their own infections, partners passed HIV to their spouses and mothers to their children. Many of these villagers, often both members of the same couple are now dying or dead, leaving behind them one or more children. According to recent estimates, the number of children orphaned by HIV/AIDS is close to 1,000 in this area where the project supports and helps children infected and affected by the epidemic. UNESCO’s local partner “Aids Orphans Salvation Association of Fuyang (AOS)” operates with the regional government’s political backing. AOS currently assists 387 AIDS orphans and their families providing them with financial, nutritional, medical and social support.
