Symposium on the new philosophical practices, "Practices, training and research at school: Perspectives"
Prev Events 85 of 116 Next
UNESCO will host the symposium on the new philosophical practices for the second consecutive year. This will be the 7th event on that subject, and will take place on the occasion of World Philosophy Day 2007. The symposium also takes place in the context of the recent publication of UNESCO Publishing entitled “Philosophy: A School of Freedom”.

Symposium on the new philosophical practices, This event will welcome any person who has an interest in the practice of philosophy at school. Those who already have a certain experience with this practice will be able to exchange opinions and debate about their methods, reflections and results. For researchers and trainers, it will be the opportunity to submit their work and evaluate the situation of the new philosophical practices in France and in francophone countries. In addition, parents, primary school teachers, philosophy teachers, students, teacher training centres’ headmasters, editors, youth literature writers, and any person wishing to discover these practices, will be welcome on this occasion.

UNESCO is traditionally strongly attached to the spreading and broadening of philosophical education and practices. One of its actions in this field in 2007 has been the launch of an important study with a view to encouraging the development of these philosophical practices, and more particularly in primary schools. This symposium and this partnership are therefore in line with the UNESCO Intersectorial Strategy on Philosophy.

The symposium will take place in Rooms VI, VII, IX and XI, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The entrance will be at the following address: 125, avenue de Suffren, 75007 Paris. Participation to the symposium requires a preliminary free but compulsory inscription.
