The Global Migration Group publishes a new report on international migration and human rightsExploring the often overlooked connections between migration, development and international human rights, the report addresses migration from a human rights perspective.

The text emphasizes, among others, the duty of States to protect migrants primarily as human beings even when they exercise their sovereign right to control their territory. It also highlights the need to address migration as a development-related issue. The report seeks to provide States with guidance for adopting a human rights-based approach to migration management by offering a comprehensive outline on existing definitions, the international legal framework and the challenges faced by different migrant groups.
