Third General Conference of the European Coalition of Cities against Racism – Call for Papers
From 19 to 20 November 2009, the European Coalition of Cities against Racism (ECCAR) will organize its third annual conference in Toulouse (France) under the theme: “Cities against Racism: New Challenges - New Partnerships: Shaping our Future”. The deadline for submission of papers is extended until 30 June 2009.
Third General Conference of the European Coalition of Cities against Racism – Call for PapersThe Conference is intended to identify best strategies that cities can adopt to counteract racism and discrimination on the basis of the “Ten-Point Plan of Action” of ECCAR and also by taking into account the international economic and political context. In order to present examples of strategies and actions implemented by European cities and in order to share experiences and stimulate discussion the following four working groups will be organized during the General Conference.

Working Group 1: Implementation of the Ten-Point-Plan of Action against Racism
Presentation of Practical Examples: Combating Discrimination in Employment and Housing

Working Group 2: Implementation of the Ten-Point-Plan of Action against Racism
Presentation of Practical Examples: Greater Vigilance against Racism - More Participation and Better Informed City Dwellers

Working Group 3: Promoting Social Cohesion in the Context of State Policies on Security: A Contradiction?

Working Group 4: The Global Economic Crisis and the Rise of Right-Wing Extremism

In preparation to these working groups, ECCAR is launching a call for papers to European cities (councillors and administrators) and researchers working with cities.
