Advancement of Human Rights
UNESCO, by actions in all its fields of competence, seeks to contribute to the creation of a universal culture of human rights. However, the focus is put on those areas where the Organization has a clear comparative advantage, experience and expertise, drawing upon its functions as a laboratory of ideas, a standard-setter and a clearing house.

UNESCO’s past and present work in human rights represents a valuable contribution to the efforts of the international community to promote and encourage respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all. Since 2003, in order to implement its Strategy on Human Rights, UNESCO is strengthening the Organization's activities in the following areas:

European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation (E.MA): call for applications for the academic year 2010/11 2010-03-04 9:00 am UNESCO
As a member of the Advisory Board of the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation (EIUC), UNESCO is pleased to announce the launch of the call for applications for the E.MA programme 2010-2011. The deadline is 19 March 2010.
