“Reflecting Human Rights in documentary films”: Round Table and the Parisian premiere of Citizen Havel, Thursday 25 September, in UNESCOThis event was organised within the context of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and it also served as an opportunity to debate on the theme of “Reflecting Human Rights in documentary films.” The Round Table was an opportunity for the Director of the Festival, Igor Blažević, to engage in dialogue with the Director-General of the International Human Rights Film Festival in Paris, Vincent Mercier, and explain the extraordinary popularity among young Czechs for this cinematographic meeting.

Since 1999, this annual festival has been organized by the Czech non-governmental organization “People in Need.” In 2008, One World celebrated its 10th anniversary, and more than 6,000 pupils and students from Prague and 14,000 young people from 28 other Czech cities, attended the festival. The One World Festival in 2006 received the Honourable Mention of the UNESCO Prize for Human Rights Education.

At 8pm, a documentary film was screened for the first time in Paris, portraying the ‘human dimension’ of President Vaclav Havel.
