Seoul Forum on the Code of Ethics for Scientists and Engineers
UNESCO adopted the “Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights” in 2005, and in accordance with it, the UNESCO World Commission on Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST) is pursuing a long-term plan to establish the Code of Conduct for Scientists.

Based on the “Recommendation on the Status of Scientific Researchers” adopted by UNESCO in 1974, consultation meetings have been taking place in Tokyo, New Delhi, Geneva and Bangkok.

In association with these conferences, the Korean National Commission for UNESCO organized a forum on 26 May in Seoul to discuss a Code of Ethics for Scientists and Engineers. The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST) sponsored the forum, and about 40 participants met to discuss the concept and contents of the code of conduct.
