COMEST Members: Alain Pompidou
Alain Pompidou is Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Cochin - Port-Royal, Paris (France), Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and Member of the Academy of Technology. He is Member of the Economic and Social Council, Paris, as Rapporteur on Research on Space Policy and has been Member of the Editorial Committee of the "Journal of Medical Ethics" since 1996. He is the author or co-author of over 150 scientific publications in the field of human biology. He is also author of "Souviens-toi de l'Homme" and of numerous articles on the ethics of scientific policy. He was Vice-President of the Ethics Committee of the research programme on the human genome (HUGO) for eight years. He has been Advisor to the Minister of Research and Higher Education, to the Minister of Health, served as Advisor to the Prime Minister for five years and was President of the Parliamentary Office for five years. He was Member of the Commission on the future of French space policy, designated by the Minister of Defence and the Minister of Research, New Technology and Space. He has been Member of the French National Commission for UNESCO since 1997 and spearheaded the COMEST Working Group on Space Policy.
