International Migration
In order to adapt to the rapidly changing developments in the world, the themes and priority areas of the MOST Programme are in constant evolution. In its first ten years of existence, MOST focused on providing information to decision-makers on how to overcome ingrained social attitudes and to change policies for promoting peace in multicultural and multi-ethnic societies. Projects addressed the social integration of migrant minority groups; ethnic conflict prevention; increased public understanding and analysis of political and legal barriers to citizenship and basic social services. The programme also included the publication the MOST Journal on Multicultural Societies (IJMS).
The reports, studies and publications resulting from the work of MOST on International Migration during this period are available in MOST's Digital Library.

Following the strategic review in 2002, International Migration was made an autonomous programme to promote the human rights of migrants, and contribute to the peaceful integration of migrants in society. This overall aim has been broken down into five main objectives:

- To increase the protection of human rights of migrants
- To improve national policies to handle the impact of migration on society
- To promote the value and respect for cultural diversity in multicultural societies
- To contribute to the global fight against human trafficking
- To strengthen the capacity, sustainability and effectiveness of migrant community networks

The work of the programme includes activities to promote knowledge sharing and understanding and to provide better information to policy makers. Detailed information can be found on the website: International Migration and Multicultural Policies
