Human Security and Policy-making

Human Security has been selected as the MOST Regional Priority for Asia and the Pacific.

UNESCO's work in the field of human rights adds to the ethical and standard-setting dimensions of the Organization's work. Policy-relevant material regarding human security research can be found in the links below. Regarding policy-oriented research, UNESCO undertakes to develop knowledge through scientific research in order better to apprehend the issue of racism and discrimination and to contribute to formulating anti-discriminatory public policies. Information regarding Human security issues can be found on the following web sites: Canada's Human Security website offers a people-centred approach to foreign policy which recognizes that lasting stability cannot be achieved until people are protected from violent threats to their rights, safety or lives. The Canadian Consortium on Human Security (CCHS) brings together academic communities, civil societies and governmental actors in order to advance policy research and development on the various issues of human security. The UN Commission on Human Security website provides information on the work of the Commission over its two-year lifespan, and dissemination of its findings and recommendations.
