Human Rights Training for UNESCO Resource Persons
A Learning Module for UNESCO Resource Persons
(Orléans, 22-24 June 2005)
Objectives

The overall purpose of the proposed 3-day orientation in human rights and human rights-based approach to programming for selected UNESCO staff is to further increase their awareness and knowledge of human rights and human rights-based approach to programming so that they can provide support to efforts within UNESCO for mainstreaming human rights and rights-based approaches to programming, by serving as resource persons. In this capacity, they can assist in close cooperation with the Human Rights and Development Section (SHS/HRS/HRD) in ensuring that UNESCO’s programmes, projects and activities are in line with the UN Reform Programme.


Expected Outcomes

  • Increased knowledge and capacities of selected UNESCO staff who were appointed as resource persons in their respective sectors for the process of integrating a human rights-based approach into UNESCO programming
  • Agreement on the specific responsibilities and tasks of resource persons from Headquarters and the field as well as on the type of support expected from SHS/HRS/HRD
  • Agreement on follow-up action
