10-11-2009 (UNESCOPRESS) - The UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence was presented to this year’s two laureates - François Houtart, Belgian sociologist and theologian, and Abdul Sattar Edhi, Pakistani philanthropist – at a ceremony on Monday 16 November at UNESCO’s Paris Headquarters on International Day for Tolerance.

17-09-2009 (University of Pretoria / UNESCO) - The first World Human Rights Moot Court Competition is organized by the University of Pretoria in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, from October until December 2009. The Faculty of Law of the Pretoria University has developed fruitful cooperation with UNESCO. It hosts the UNESCO Chair in Law Education in Africa and the Centre for Human Rights which won the UNESCO Prize for Human Rights Education 2006.

02-07-2008 (United Nations) - The United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights was instituted by the General Assembly in 1966 (Res. 2217/XXI). This year’s prize will be awarded at the meeting of the General Assembly on 10 December 2008, as part of the annual commemoration of Human Rights Day which this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The first Summer School was held in Venice (Italy) in 2005. The fourth edition of the Summer School is organized from 21 August to 10 September 2008.
