Meeting of Palestinian women's networks and NGOs
Meeting organized within the framework of the project “In support of Palestinian Women”.

Meeting of Palestinian women's networks and NGOsThe meeting will gather key representatives of Palestinian women’s networks and NGOs. The objectives are to:
1. identify the strategic interests of Palestinian women that would promote respect for their human rights and status.
2. elaborate a plan of action in which UNESCO, through the Sector for Social and Human Sciences, could contribute to meeting those strategic interests.

Strategic interests are what women need to overcome their generally subordinate positions to men in society, and are based on the assumption that if met, the legal, social, economic and political barriers to women’s full and equal participation would be removed (UNESCO, Gender Mainstreaming Implementation Framework).

The meeting is part of the Social and Human Sciences Sector’s overall programme for Gender Equality and Development aimed at promoting the social transformations for women living in conflict zones.
