BUREAU OF FIELD COORDINATION

UNESCO Office in Cairo 

Regional Bureau for Sciences for the Arab States.
Cluster Office for Egypt, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya and Sudan.

In view of its mandate, the UNESCO Office in Cairo serves as a regional UNESCO office for science & technology in Arab states. Within this mandate, it receives decentralized regular programme funds to execute workplans in the specific areas of:

(1) Basic & Engineering Sciences (BES)
(2) Ecological Sciences (ECO)
(3) Earth (Geological) Sciences (GEO)
(4) Hydrological Sciences (HYD)


Furthermore, within the new reform and decentralization policies, the Office in Cairo was selected as a focal point for Communication & Information in Arab states.
