WSIS Workshop on Public Service Broadcasting
UNESCO organized a workshop on Public Service Broadcasting held on December 11, 2003 in Palexpo, Geneva.

Almost 150 broadcasters and broadcasting organizations, media professionals, decision makers and representatives of the civil society from all over the world had an intense debate on the current challenges of PSB, its role in promoting education, cultural diversity and social inclusion, as well as its principles, best practices and guidelines in the digital age.


The participants to the workshop adopted recommendations and a statement, stressing the need to enhance editorially independent PSB in a form suited to meet challenges of the knowledge societies in the 21th century:
