Summary of the activities
The Government has been supportive of the use of ethnic minority languages through its policies over time. However, at a practical level, this is often interpreted as the teaching of ethnic minority languages as a subject rather than as a medium of instruction. This project aims at increasing awareness amongst a broad range of stakeholders about mother tongue based instruction.
The main activities are:
- Organise a brain storming workshop with participation of national and international partners with the aim of agreeing on an advocacy strategy
- Develop an advocacy framework with identification of themes, strategy and detailed activities for each theme
- Identify, prepare (translate, adapt and develop) and produce advocacy materials / publications for dissemination in advocacy events
- Organise policy forums / events on each topic
- Organise training on the use and development of advocacy materials / tools
