Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan joined UNESCO on May 22, 1992. The country is covered by the UNESCO Office Almaty. Kazakhstan participates in EDUCAIDS, a UNESCO-led response to HIV and AIDS.

This initiative aims to address the impact of HIV/AIDS, prevent the spread of HIV and support education systems related to HIV/AIDS learning environments. Kazakhstan currently holds five UNESCO Chairs and there is one UNEVOC Centre.

As of September 2006, the country has 30 schools participating in UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).
