Belize


Belize joined UNESCO on May 10, 1982.

The country is covered by the Organization's office in Kingston, Jamaica; UNESCO launched two regional projects in Belize in May 2005 with the aim of reducing poverty in the Caribbean and contributing to the development of education.

Belize holds nine UNESCO Chairs and is home to one UNEVOC centre. As of September 2006, the country has 3 schools participating in UNESCO’s Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet).
