UNESCO’s Knowledge Societies Division, Communication and Information Sector, with the support of the European Commission is hosting the Meeting on ‘Common Frameworks on ICT in Education Teacher Training and Digitally Competent Teachers’.

This meeting will provide a forum to share best practices and to discuss on areas of digital competence - knowledge, skills and attitudes for the confident and critical use of ICT for employment, learning, self-development and participation in society - addressed in national teacher education.
National best practices in using the UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (ICT CFT) will also discussed in the meeting. The UNESCO ICT CFT outlines a set of competencies that teachers need to integrate ICT into their practice and professional development to advance student learning. Key for UNESCO in this domain is to support the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) based teacher training materials for contextualizing the ICT CFT. OER are education resources which incorporate a license that facilitates reuse and adaptation without first requesting permission from the copyright holder.
