New Video : Transforming the way we think and act through Global Citizenship Education

Schools have traditionally prepared students to pass exams, reach the next level and graduate into the workplace. That is important, but we now face the far greater challenge of raising global citizens. 

That is why the UN Secretary General’s Global Education First Initiative (GEFI) is today launching a new video on one of its key priority areas, global citizenship education. 


The global challenges we face, such as conflict, poverty, and climate change, are diverse - yet as members of an interconnected 21
st Century community, they now concern us all. 

Global Citizenship Education gives students the knowledge and skills they need to answer the big questions of the day, and to help forge more tolerant, peaceful and inclusive societies.
