  • Cheick Modibo DIARRA, a scientist of international repute and director of NASA's Mars Exploration Program Education and Public Outreach project, and the pride of Mali and Africa, joined UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors in 1998.

  • Wole SOYINKA , the Nigerian Nobel Prize Laureate in Literature and President of the International Writers Parliament was appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in 1994 for the promotion of African culture, programmes and communication.
