UNESCO Forum on Gender EqualityHeld on a regular basis, the UNESCO Forum on Gender Equality series is organized by the Division for Gender Equality of the Bureau of Strategic Planning. The seminars focus on the achievements and challenges in the field of gender equality within UNESCO’s five fields of competence. The objective is to raise awareness of the Priority Gender Equality and to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality. Organized by the Division for Gender Equality of the Bureau of Strategic Planning (BSP/GE), the initiative is in line with the designation of “Gender Equality” as one of UNESCO’s two global priorities in the new Medium-Term Strategy for 2008-2013.

This 8th Forum was held in the presence of Renée Lavaillante, visual artist. Date : 16 February 2010. This 7th Forum was held in the presence of Melanne Verveer, US Global Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues . Date : 19 October 2009. This 6th Forum was held in the presence of The Honourable Claire L'Heureux-Dubé, former Judge of the Canadian Supreme Court. Date : 6 November 2008. This 5th Forum was held in the presence of H. Exc. Ms. Nimet ÇUBUKÇU, State Minister for Women and Family Affairs of Turkey. The session focused on the Status of Women in Turkey in the Last Decade Date : 8 October 2008. with the presence of Ms Yianna Lambrou, Senior Gender Equality, Energy and Climate Change Specialist with the FAO, Mr Patricio Bernal, Assistant Director-General, Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and Mr. Badaoui Rouhban, Chief of UNESCO’s Disaster Reduction and Renewable Energy Section.
