United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
The Associated Schools are not administered by UNESCO. They form part of the system of education in their respective countries and anjoy no special status. But they are selected by the national authorities of each country.

Their purpose is to act singly or as a group (at the local, national or international level) by developing pilot projects on four main themes:

  • global problems and the role of the United Nations system
  • human rights, democracy and tolerance
  • multicultural apprenticeship
  • environmental problems.
