Meeting of experts for the preparation of UNESCO teaching manual Historical districts for everyone

On 29 March 2007, a meeting of experts will be held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, to approve the contents of a training manual geared to local representatives. The title of the manual is Historical districts for everyone. Its aim is to help town and city mayors improve social cohesion and economic development, and to highlight urban heritage. This project was first presented at an international conference in Beijing, China, from 22 to 24 January 2007. It then came under the scrutiny of architects, sociologists, urban specialists and representatives of international associations of towns and cities at a meeting organized in close cooperation with UN-Habitat and the World Heritage Centre.

The final proofs of the manual will be presented at the next session of UNESCO’s General Conference before printing and distribution during the fourth World Urban Forum to be organized in Nanjing, China, in 2008.
