Thailand - Support for children affected by HIV/AIDS
This project aims to develop psycho-social abilities and promote life skills as well as resilience in children affected by AIDS in Northern Thailand.
Prev Projects 2 of 3 Next
Thailand has been severely touched by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the last three decades. At the end of 2005, more than 380 000 children had been orphaned by AIDS. Northern Thailand has borne the brunt of this disease with reports indicating that 40 per cent of reported AIDS cases in Thailand are in the northern region, particularly in the Upper North provinces of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Lam Phun. This project aims to develop psycho-social abilities and promote life skills as well as resilience in children affected by AIDS. Part of this means directly improving the attention children receive from caregivers, teachers and communities.
