In some places toys were distributed. In others, teacher aids were designed and spread for the education of refugees. A kindergarten was reconstructed and set up in Sarajevo to serve as an model for replication, as well as a school for the blind and an educational institution for mentally-disabled children. An army barracks was converted into a vocational training college. Perhaps the greatest achievement, as well as the above, was the foundation, along with the Austrian NGO, Hope’87, of a clinic specialised in pain treatment for children and youths who had suffered amputations and wounds. As well as dealing with medical issues, it provided various options for vocational skills training.
