Giving the Floor to Representatives of the Regional Coalitions

The Forum of Nantes was created, from the start (in 2004), to support and develop the networks of actors involved in the protection, the respect and the implementation of the Human Rights by strenghtening the solidarity between these different actors (political leaders, ONG activists, academics and international experts, representatives of international organisations...).

Organised by the permanent international secretariat Human Rights and Local Governments, association under French Law (Law 1901), the third forum took place at the International Convention Center of Nantes Métropole.

The main topics for each day were as follows:
  • 30 June: 60 years after… the current status on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
  • 1 July: Human Rights - between economic globalisation and international solidarity.
  • 2 July: Which Europe for human rights? Which human rights for Europe?
  • 3 July: Local Governance and Human Rights: efficacy within the reach of citizens?
