II. Human Rights: Concept and Standards
An analysis and presentation of the conceptual framework and adopted human rights standards is the main objective of this volume.
Prev Books 8 of 13 Next
II. Human Rights: Concept and Standards Its content is divided into four parts. The first part deals with the concept of human rights. It presents the evolution and expansion of this concept and its philosophical formulations and theoretical reflection on the nature and sources of human rights. International standards in the next two parts are grouped, first, from the point of view of categories of human rights: civil, political, economic, social and cultural, and then in relation to the protection of certain categories of vulnerable persons (women, children, minorities, indigenous people and migrant workers).
The book is prepared for the more specialised readers: human rights activists, teachers, students and journalists, as well as various professional groups like decision makers, law enforcement personnel, and those in public administration, army or police, who all deal with human rights questions. Bibliographies at the end of each chapter facilitate further study and reflection. As this volume is also addressed to members of the academic community, it contains certain topics, such as academic freedom, which might be of interest to them.
