Proceedings of the first session of COMEST
The first session (in Oslo, Norway, 28-30 April 1999) was devoted to the analysis of the ethical aspects in fields concerning the use of energy and freshwater resources, as well as the information society.
At the generous invitation of the government of Norway, the First Session of the World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST) was held in Oslo from 28 to 30 April 1999. More than 160 specialists from 50 countries of different regions of the world took part, including the members and ex officio members of COMEST, representatives of Member States, international governmental and non-governmental organizations, Academies of Science and Universities. The first session was devoted to the analysis of the ethical aspects in fields concerning the use of energy and freshwater resources, as well as the information society.
