Asia-Pacific Inter-Agency Steering Committee for DESD

In the implementation of the activities under the decade of Education for Sustainable Development international agencies are faced with numerous challenges and it is imperative that these are addressed in a concerted effort and in a coordinated fashion. Planned activities, both within these countries and between sector specific programmes and agencies, must reflect their real needs, and their implementation ought to be coordinated in order to enhance both efficiency in the utilization of resources and effectiveness in the achievement of goals. The Asia-Pacific Regional UN Interagency Steering Committee for the DESD will increase cooperation on ESD at the regional level among UN agencies and associated institutions on ESD.
