Teachers' Roles in ICT-enhanced Classrooms

What are the implications, for teachers, of using ICT in education? What role will teachers play in the new knowledge societies? Here you will find articles and websites that respond to these questions, including perceptions of the teacher’s place in education in the modern world, how ICT can be used to support and motivate teachers and how to implement standards for teachers' ICT-competency.

This section provides links to teacher training projects and papers describing them. Educators and programme developers describe their projects and share their experiences and lessons learned. This section also provides links to online ICT courses as well as standards for competency for teachers.

This section provides links to online lesson plans, activities and teaching materials. Materials are organized into subjects, including: arts, languages, health, physical education, mathematics, sciences and information technology.

Choosing Internet Resources

How can teachers assess the validity and authority of internet resources? This section provides links to articles and websites that help teachers to determine which internet resources are reliable. Some websites define evaluation criteria, such as: appropriateness of content to the audience, authenticity and authority of the source, and affiliation of the author. Other sites focus on copyright issues.

This section provides links to articles about online collaboration. Strategies for organizing online collaboration are outlined, along with relevant pedagogies and useful tools. Links to collaboration projects are provided, along with information on intellectual property rights and the cultural implications of changes in educational systems.

This page focuses on how to develop online courses, and is presented in four sections. The first section contains articles about e-learning. The next section provides articles by course developers on how to create your own virtual course or school website. Followed by examples of online learning programmes, educational websites and free and low-cost software applications.

ICT in Education: Evaluation Tools & Indicators

To what extent can new technologies be said to enhance teaching and learning? This section contains articles and papers describing research into the usefulness of ICT and describing ICT performance indicators.
