*** Assess your ICT readiness
This site helps guide local leaders through the process of assessing their community’s readiness to exploit fully the opportunities offered by the networked world. Respondents assess their community according to 19 categories grouped under five sections, which can help identify strategic priorities in planning technological development projects. The guide is available in eight different languages.

Outcome Document: Asia Pacific Ministerial Forum on ICT in Education (AMFIE) 2012
This brief report analyses the responses of AMFIE 2012 attendees to surveys immediately prior to and at the conclusion of the forum. It sums up the three major themes emerged across the sessions and discussions as "ICT-in-Education as a means to reduce societal inequities", "Translating ICT-in-Education Policies into Action" and "Training, Supporting, and Evaluating Teachers for ICT-in-Education".

Mobile learning and policies: Key issues to consider
This paper published by UNESCO entitled “Mobile Learning and Policies: Key Issues to Consider” seeks to help education leaders shape policy environments that are conducive to mobile learning. It examines strategies that can provide learners with cost-effective access to mobile technology as well as ways to ensure that this technology is used productively both inside and outside the classroom.

Innovative Teaching and Learning (ITL) research: A global look at pedagogies for 21st century skills
This three-year Innovative Teaching and Learning research project was designed to study teaching practices that support students’ learning of 21st century skills and the system of supports that can help teachers to adopt those practices. It also addresses a gap between how ICT in teaching and learning is described in policy documents and the pedagogy that most students experience.

ICT in Education: A critical literature review and its implications
This review summarizes the relevant research on the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in education. Specifically, it reviews studies that have touched upon the merits of ICT integration in schools, barriers or challenges encountered in the use of ICT, factors influencing successful ICT integration, in-service and pre-service teachers’ attitudes, perceptions, and confidence in using ICT as well as the importance of school culture in the use of ICT.

Computers in schools: 10 points to avoid past errors
In outlining ten important lessons that have been learnt when introducing ICTs to schools, this paper recommends beginning simply, and encouraging the uses to which teachers put ICTs to develop in line with their individual technical skills.

Distance Education: Access Guidelines for Students with Disabilities
These guidelines are developed by The High Tech Center Training Unit in collaboration with the Distance Education Accessibility Workgroup, California Community College, for distance learning to assure it is accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities. The document includes basic requirement for providing access, Access Guidelines for Specific Modes of Distance Education Instructional Delivery (Print media, Audio Conferencing, Video Conferencing/Video Transmission (Live) , Video Transmission (Pre Recorded), World Wide Web, Instructional Software, Laser Video Disc, CD ROM, DVD).

Publications by UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education
The UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) published six new policy briefs during the past year, in order to disseminate new achievements, teaching methodologies and concepts in the field of ICT in education.

Child safety online: Global challenges and strategies
The study primarily addresses two issues: child sex abuse recorded in images; and the grooming of young people for sex. A third issue, cyberbullying, emerging from much research as an issue of particular significance to children, is also touched on in this report.

Open Access to scientific information: Policy guidelines released
Addressing a major concern of Member States, UNESCO has released a new publication entitled Policy Guidelines for the Development and Promotion of Open Access to demystify the concept of Open Access and provide concrete steps on putting relevant policies in place.
