XI. EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT TOOLS AND INDICATORS

The first part of this section contains articles and papers describing recent research into the practical value of ICTs, exploring to just what extent new technologies can be said to enhance teaching and learning. The studies include surveys of the general impact of ICTs on a range of curriculum subjects, as well as articles assessing the merits of educational technology with specific reference to teaching, learning and pedagogy.

There are studies describing ICT performance indicators from around the world, and especially in Asia-Pacific, detailing frameworks for assessing a given country or region’s readiness to take full advantage of the opportunities associated with ICTs. Some articles discuss the theoretical issues involved in developing new indicators that can accommodate the new media, while others outline best practices to be used as guidelines for countries preparing to develop new ICT programmes towards education reform.
