Teacher Education

Teacher education is a crucial step in improving the education system.  Educating teachers in the the concepts of inclusive education involves both methodological and organizational changes to create child-centered teaching and learning-friendly environments.

Training teachers involves both pre-service training and in-service training.  Pre-service training provides the preparation necessary for teachers to change  traditional attitudes towards student diversity and increase their understanding of inclusive practices.  In-service training provides on-going support for teachers developing and implementing inclusive practices.  In addition, in-service training encourages collaboration in schools between teeachers and between teachers and administrators.

Teachers should be trained to use early intervention to address problems of children with special needs in early childhood education to avoid later exclusion.  Training should also encourage innovative practices and strenghten existing expertise.
