Earlier this month, representatives of governments, civil society, employers and youth came together at the Asia-Pacific Conference on Education and Training (ACET) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities for technical and vocational education and training (TVET). This month’s newsletter brings you the highlights from the Conference including its outcome statement – the Kuala Lumpur Declaration – which is expected to set the direction for skills development in the Asia and the Pacific in the coming years. Highlight: TVET Conference 2015» ACET 2015 concludes with ‘Kuala Lumpur Declaration’ The Asia-Pacific Conference on Education and Training in Kuala Lumpur brought together Ministers and high-level officials responsible for education and training from 26 countries who endorsed the declaration, which sets out actions to empower youth through TVET. » TVET Photo Exhibition at the ACET 2015 A photo exhibition showcasing the changing face of TVET took place from 3 - 5 Aug 2015 at the Asia-Pacific Conference on Education and Training (ACET) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. News and Events» Regional Meeting: "Quality Assurance of Certification in TVET" A regional meeting on "Quality Assurance of Certification in Technical and Vocational Education and Training" will be held on 9-10 October 2015 in Bangkok for stakeholders involved in developing national quality assurance systems to share country experiences. » "Data Analysis for Evidence-Based Policy-Making" Workshop A capacity development workshop on “Analyzing and Understanding Learning Assessment for Evidence-Based Policy-Making” will be held on 14 -18 September in Bangkok, as a part of the “Learning Enablers in the Asia Pacific” programme. » "Rethinking Education through Imagining Future Scenarios" A workshop on "Rethinking Education through Imagining Future Scenarios" will be held on 2-5 September, bringing together non-formal education practitioners to review the trends in non-formal education and new perspectives for sustainable development. » UNESCO and Kobe University Review School Finance in SEA What determines school funding in Asia? In order to answer this question, UNESCO Bangkok and Kobe University, with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology of Japan, started field research in selected Southeast Asian (SEA) countries. » Removing Barriers in Asia-Pacific, Goal of Korea-funded Projects UNESCO launched three Korea-funded projects that focus on removing barriers and promoting greater opportunities for peace and mutual understanding through education in Asia-Pacific. “Preparing Teachers for Global Citizenship Education” is one of them. |
