UNESCO-KEDI Annual Regional Policy Seminars
Since 1995, UNESCO Bangkok and the Korean Educational Development Institute (KEDI) have had an active partnership to promote collaborative efforts to contribute to the educational development of the global community, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region..
As part of these efforts, since 1999, UNESCO-KEDI annual policy seminars have been organized, sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development through KEDI, with technical and financial co-sponsorship from UNESCO Bangkok.
UNESCO-KEDI annual seminars focus on education policy and reform issues that are high on the policy agenda in Asia-Pacific countries. The seminars bring together senior officials from Ministries of Education and researchers from Asian-Pacific countries for an exchange of information, knowledge and know-how regarding priority areas in education policy and reform.
Before 2000, themes of the seminars covered topics such as Education Management Information Systems (EMIS) and international development assistance. Since 2002, the seminar had been devoted to themes related to the six EFA goals agreed upon by the international community at the World Education Forum in Dakar in 2000. Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) (EFA Goal 1) was the seminar theme in 2002, followed by life skills (EFA Goal 3) in 2003.
