Fiji - Young Leaders for a Sustainable FijiThe project marked the launch for the Youth Parliament Alumni of Fiji with the theme of 'Young Leaders for the Sustainable Fiji'. On October 28th, 2005, 26 young people from all of the Fiji divisions took part in a training workshop where they discussed important issues and committed to 3 youth campaigns, the beginning of many more to come. Such an initiative is the first for the Pacific Region and is an important step in empowering island youth to make a difference in their communities. Niue - Beautify the Village of Avatele OneonepataThe Avatale Youth Group implemented a project to develop a clean and safe environment for the community and to implement a beautification program. The goal was to have three villages working together in keeping the villages clean. Vanuatu - Anelcauhat Waste Management YES (Youth Environmental Services) ProjectThe long term objective of the Anelcauhat YES (Youth Environmental Services) Project is to stimulate wise waste management in Anelcauhat and hope nearby communities can learn from the project. This project focussed on the control of waste in the village through best practice upon the expert advise of the Environment Unit and other relevant authorities in Vanuatu. |
