Launched in 2000 within the framework of the UNESCO-Libyan FIT cooperation, the project resulted in establishment of a Centre for Cell & Molecular Biology in Tripoli now the Biotechnology Research Centre (BTRC). The 1st phase centred on equipment & infrastructure needs. The new phase will lay emphasis on training and knowledge building. The main objective is to strengthen capacity of the BTRC & foster innovation in biotechnology in Libya.
