Jaap Evers PhD, MSc

Lecturer in River Basin Governance

Biography

Since November 2012, Jaap is working at UNESCO-IHE as a lecturer in River Basin Governance as part of the Water Governance chair group of the Department of Integrated Water Systems and Governance. His educational and research activities include subjects related to river basin management and governance. Jaap is involved in the general management and organization of the Water Management Master Programme of UNESCO-IHE.

In 2011 Jaap started working for MetaMeta, a research and capacity development consultancy in the international water and natural resources management and development sector. In this position Jaap has joint in several evaluation and capacity development projects (Pakistan, Ethiopia and South Sudan) and provided backstopping support to the Water Unit of IFAD's Policy and Technical Advisory division.

Jaap Evers was awarded his PhD in June 2011 in Public Administration from the University of Twente, Eschede, the Netherlands. In 2006 Jaap started as a research associate at the Twente Centre for Studies in Technology and Sustainable Development (CSTM). Here he studied interactive implementation of IWRM plans. In his research Jaap focused on the effectiveness of innovative project implementation strategies within complex governance settings.

He has a Masters Degree in Tropical Landuse - Irrigation and Water Engineering from Wageningen University, the Netherlands (2006).
